Marnae Weisenburger graduated from AberdeenHigh School and Ricks Col-lege (now BYU Idaho) and is the Title 1 Reading Intervention Teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School. She has had many funny experiences as a teacher, but always laughs when astudent calls her mom. She says the looks on their faces are priceless when she responds, “yes, my child.” She loves the smiles, hugs, and laughter at the schooland believes that there isn’t anything that compares to being involved in an elementary school. The aspect of her job that she enjoys the most is when she begins working with students who barely know the names and sounds in the alphabet and then teaching them the steps of learning to read. The first time they read a book to her is magical. She has worked at Hillcrest for 19 years and her first and foremost goal is to always make a connection with each student she teaches. When not at school Marnae loves to be outside. Some of her favorites are gardening, running, kayaking, and biking. When the weather is stormy, though, she likes to cuddle up with a good book.
