We held our annual 7th-grade career fair on 10/9/2025. It was a huge success!. Students were able to be introduced to eighteen different careers. Students were happy and engaged. One student came up afterward and shared how excited she was that there was a detective at the career fair. She shared that this was a career that she has wanted to go into for several years now. We had such an awesome variety of presenters both from our local community and the Pocatello area. We appreciate all of them and for taking the time to be with our students. We live amongst people who truly care about our students' future.

Mrs. Post's 6th grade ELA classes spent two days in the library sharpening their narrative writing skills this week-- and we have Mrs. Matthews, our amazing librarian, to thank for making it such a success! Together, Mrs. Post and Mrs. Matthews encouraged students to plan and write their own narratives in a fun, engaging way. Mrs. Matthews designed a creative challenge: she provided the middle and end of a story, and students had to craft the beginning-- all centered around the "case of the stuck lockers," where the culprit is never caught! Mrs. Matthews is more than just a librarian-- she's a true partner in learning who consistently goes above and beyond for our students. We are so lucky to have her!

Due to the government shutdown, most of Craters of the Moon National Monument is closed. This includes the caves and tunnels, most bathrooms, visitor's center, and all running water.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel the 8th grade field trip planned for tomorrow. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
Please send your 8th grade student to school like normal tomorrow.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and did not make this decision lightly.

The 6th grade students third rotation for Outdoor Adventure Lab (OLE) was a field trip to Scout Mountain in Pocatello, where they spent the day exploring and learning about the forest ecosystem. They began with a nature walk, during which they discovered the different layers of the forest and learned which animals make their homes in each level.
After their hike, the students enjoyed lunch outdoors before joining in a fun and educational game called Oh Deer. This activity taught them about the survival needs of forest animals—such as food, water, and shelter—as well as the challenges they face when natural resources are scarce.
The learning continued with a hula hoop activity called the Evidence of Life Game. Students worked together to identify signs that something was living, had once lived, or had never been alive. To finish, they graphed their survival numbers from the games, tying together science skills with hands-on learning.
It was a day filled with discovery, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of the natural world!

For the first annual 6th Grade Outdoor Learning Experience (OLE) week. Another rotation was right here in American Falls. At the American Falls Fish Hatchery, students participated in a nature walk. Students also engaged with Historian Mrs. Klassen, who shared the history of relocating the town of American Falls in 1925 during a tour of the original townsite. Following lunch and recess in the park, students took park in two STEM challenges. They constructed working model dams and relocated model houses to a new townsite using simple machines such as levers, inclined planes, pulleys, and wheels.

SAFE ROUTES WEEK! We would like to remind all commuters to travel safely, whether in a car, on a bike, or walking/rolling!
🚜 Harvest Season Safety Reminder
It’s harvest season in our community, which means more semis, tractors, and 10-wheelers are on the roads. 🚛 🚜
If your child bikes/walks/rolls to school, remind them to:
✅ Ride single file
✅ Stay as far right as possible
✅ Be extra alert at field entrances and driveways
Farm equipment has blind spots — let’s help our riders stay safe this October! 🍂

In the afternoon, the students at lunch at Register Rock and learned about a pioneer who once traveled through the site. More information coming about our other locations.
