Kindergarten Orientation Hillcrest’s kindergarten orientation provides activity suggestions and information to make the transition into kindergarten a positive educational experience for you and your child. WHO: Fall 2023 kindergarten students and their parents WHEN: Wednesday, May 03, 2023 TIME: 5:50 Doors open 6 - 7 Informational meeting in gym *See the kindergarten areas of Hillcrest *Pick up valuable get ready for school activities and ideas PLACE: Hillcrest Elementary School YOU WILL: Visit a typical kindergarten classroom and other important school areas. Receive ideas/information for getting ready for school activities. Find out what to work on in order for your child to be ready for kindergarten. If you did not complete your child’s registration (birth certificate, updated immunizations and verification of address), you may bring these to update at orientation. Orientation sponsored by: Hillcrest Elementary Power County Head Start Idaho Public Television, PBS The school district nurse will be here if you have any health concerns for your incoming student. Hillcrest had an awesome Kindergarten Registration. This Wednesday we are having our Dual Immersion Parent Meeting at 5:30 in the Hillcrest Gym. This is a required Parent Meeting, if you are interested in Dual Immersion Program and have an incoming Kindergarten child. If you currently have a student in the program you don't need to attend. If you have a student that will be 5 on or before Sept 1, 2023 and have not registered them for Kindergarten, it isn't to late just stop by the Hillcrest office as soon as possible.

2/3/23 Dear Parents, We hope this letter finds you well. As Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, we wanted to take a moment to remind you about the school's policy regarding individual gifts and treats sent from home. In an effort to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, we kindly ask that you do not send individual Valentine gifts to school for your child (flowers, teddy bears, balloons etc). Please enjoy these items at home. We do allow individually wrapped and store bought treats to be brought to school to share with their class. This helps to ensure that all students feel included and prevents any issues related to those who may not get a special gift. Instead, we encourage students to exchange valentine cards with their classmates as a fun and inclusive way to celebrate the holiday. This exchange will take place in the classroom. En esfuerzo de crear un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro e inclusivo para todos los estudiantes, pedimos amablemente que no envíe regalos individuales de San Valentin a su hijo/a (flores, peluches, globos etc). Por favor de disfrutar de estos regalos en casa. Si permitimos bocadillos envuelto individualmente o comprados en la tienda para traer a la escuela para que compartan con su clase. Esto ayuda a asegurarnos de que los estudiantes se sientan incluidos y evita algunos problemas a quienes no les den un regalo especial. En cambio, les pedimos a sus hijos que intercambien tarjetas con sus compañeros como algo divertido y una manera inclusiva de celebrar el día festivo. Thanks to Southeastern Idaho Public Health many of our students received free teeth sealants to help prevent tooth decay. Our kids were so brave and we were proud of their great behavior while doing this!!

Due to the severe temperatures forecasted in American Falls and surrounding areas, all schools within the American Falls School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 31st. The National Weather Service has extended a severe weather alert, with a wind chill warning in effect through 10AM on Tuesday. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of students during early morning pickup and drop-off times, as well as those who walk or wait at bus stops, the decision was made to close schools. The weather is expected to improve on Wednesday, so please dress warm and plan on attending school
