Our 4th graders have been busy scientists 🐟✨
They’ve been raising trout right in our classrooms—watching them grow from tiny eggs, to alevins hiding in the rocks, and now to little fish swimming around the tank! The students have loved seeing the trout life cycle firsthand and learning just how amazing nature can be. What a cool experience!

JRSE Stem Ambassadors Visit Hillcrest Elementary School!🎉
Yesterday, the STEM ambassadors from J.R. Simplot Elementary visited Hillcrest to lead an activity focused on potential and kinetic energy. We made rockets using cups and rubber bands!

Mrs. Clapier's 5th-grade artists knocked it out of the park with their winter landscape paintings. Since we didn’t really get winter in American Falls, please enjoy this beautiful winter scenery brought to you by the J.R. Simplot Elementary School 5th-grade art students. Students learned about monochromatic color schemes, mixed their own tints, tones, and shades, and explored how to create pine trees using different brushstrokes and layering techniques.

Students in Ms. Breding’s class kicked off the New Year by choosing a meaningful Focus Word. Each student reflected on why their word matters and how it will positively impact themselves and others throughout 2026. We love seeing their thoughtful reflections, creativity, and positive energy shining bright! ✨

Dear parents and guardians,
We have a lot of children out in 18 degree weather with no coat. In order to keep your child safe, ALL CHILDREN NEED COATS FOR RECESS. Please make sure your child has their coat before leaving home. If your child does not have a coat and you are unable to get one, please call the school. We've got your back. We will get a coat for anyone who is in need.

Ever traveled the world from your classroom? Ms. Navarrete’s and Mrs. Brambila’s classes wrapped up their Idaho History Landform Unit with an exciting virtual field trip! Students explored the Salmon River (ID), Bryce Canyon (UT), Courthouse Butte/Bell Rock (AZ), Fagradalsfjall Volcano (Iceland), and several other amazing places. We love how technology lets us travel to faraway places right from our classroom.

Ms. Stilwell’s 3rd grade class has been taking their learning around the world this holiday season! 🎄📚 Instead of staying in one place, our curious learners packed their imaginary passports and traveled to different countries to discover how people celebrate the holidays across the globe. From unique traditions and festive foods to special decorations and meaningful customs, we’ve been expanding our minds, building cultural understanding, and celebrating what makes each place special 💡❤️ What an amazing reminder that while traditions may look different, the joy, kindness, and togetherness of the season are shared everywhere. 🌎✨

Students at JRSE will be receiving a special invitation to the CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA! You're invited to the Christmas Extravaganza! Your art will be displayed in the Fine Arts Center . Our community received a welcome boost today when Charley Jones of Idaho Power stopped by J.R. Simplot Elementary to deliver a $300 donation supporting our food pantry. This generous gift will go directly toward helping local families. We are deeply grateful to Idaho Power for their kindness and for consistently investing in the well-being of our community. We are blessed to live in an area where businesses step up to make a meaningful difference.

We also extend a heartfelt thank you to Hutch Swan for all he does for our schools and community.

In honor of Veteran’s Day the fifth grade dedicated a bulletin board to the brave men and women who have served our country. Thank you for your service.
