OutRiding AFHS Mountain bike group

American Falls, Idaho — American Falls High School has officially launched the OutRIDING Mountain Bike Workshop, an exciting new after-school opportunity for students to explore the outdoors and discover a love for cycling.

This program was made possible through a grant secured by Andrea Clinger with support from the Idaho Coalition for Community Schools and Idaho Out of School Time Network. The funding allows AFHS to implement several new after-school activities designed to engage students in active, healthy, and community-connected experiences.

The OutRIDING Mountain Bike Workshop consists of four unique rides using Specialized mountain bikes provided by the Outride Organization, a national nonprofit that promotes youth well-being through cycling. Rides take place once a week and are open to high school students interested in learning basic riding skills, trail etiquette, and bike maintenance while experiencing the beauty of Idaho’s landscapes just outside of town.

The group’s first adventure kicked off last week at Massacre Rocks State Park, where students rode along scenic river trails and learned about safe and sustainable riding practices. Leading the rides are AFHS teachers and bike coaches Hailey Lusk and Ethan Kim, who are passionate about helping students gain confidence, build resilience, and find joy in movement.

“We want our students to see that adventure and fitness are right here in our own backyard,” said Coach Lusk. “These rides are about more than biking—they’re about connection, confidence, and community.”

American Falls High School looks forward to continuing the OutRIDING series throughout the fall and expanding outdoor adventure opportunities for students in the future.
