Winter Weather Safety Procedures

When winter weather like snow or extremely Sub-Zero temperatures are forecast, the safety of the road conditions, school parking lots and sidewalks of our students and staff becomes our top priority. Our transportation, maintenance, and other administrative personnel work closely together in these situations to monitor weather forecast and road conditions and make necessary plans for the safety of staff and students.

On these days we begin monitoring weather conditions by traveling roads and working with County Highway crews to make a safety decision by 6:00 a.m. about whether to have school that day since our first bus leaves at 6:05 a.m. If it's necessary to close school we will begin notifying TV and radio stations.

Board procedures also call for temperatures at minus -20 or below including wind chill to trigger dismissal of school for the day also for safety of students traveling to and from school.
